Are you shipping a car from the USA to the UAE and don’t know what to do? EasyHaul can help you. We’re giving you all that you need to know to import a car from the USA to the UAE.
Hassle-free US Customs clearance with EasyHaul
We told you all about car shipping to Oman, and here we’re going over the details for importing cars from the USA to another country of the Persian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is one of the major car importers in the world. More than 80,000 vehicles are imported to the UAE from the United States annually.
If you’re shipping a car from auction, make sure the vehicle is paid for as soon as possible to avoid any delays and additional fees. Then you can start looking for an auto shipping service like EasyHaul. To order shipping from the USA to the UAE with EasyHaul you don’t need piles of documents: just provide us with a copy of your government-issued ID or Passport and we’ll take care of the rest.
Select your shipping method
The next step is to choose your shipping method. Our car shipping company offers two options for you: consolidated container shipping and single container transportation. EasyHaul usually ships vehicles in 40-ft containers.
The first one is more cost-efficient, but you’ll have to wait until the container is fully loaded, which can impact departure times. Depending on the vehicles’ dimensions, between 2 and 4 cars fit in a container. Single container shipping is more expensive, but it’s a great choice when the vehicle’s safety is your primary concern.
What to know before importing a car from the USA to the UAE
There are standards to meet when importing a car from the USA to the UAE. The most important of them are listed below:
-
- You’ll have to acquire either a special permit from the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) or Emirates’ Visa before import
- Make sure that the car you’re importing is modified according to the UAE requirements, otherwise, you may have to pay additional fees
- Importing right-hand drive vehicles is forbidden
Car import tariffs and fees in the UAE
Taxes and fees in the UAE are fixed both for new and used cars. Prior to arrival to the destination port, you’ll have to pay 4700 United Arab Emirates Dirhams (AED) to obtain all necessary papers needed for UAE Customs Clearance. The car import customs duty is 5% in the Emirates. 4% is the added value of the vehicle and 1% is the car’s insurance.
There are no restrictions on the age of the imported vehicle. With cars that were manufactured 10 years ago or more, however, you’ll have to contact the RTA to get a special carnet required for Customs clearance.
Ports in the UAE and sailing times
There are 8 ports in the UAE, but EasyHaul ships all vehicles in containers to the Jebel Ali Port, which is located 22 miles south-west of Dubai. This is the busiest port in the Middle East and it holds the status of the biggest man-made harbor in the world. This port is the cheapest to ship containers in the UAE.
Average sailing times range from 16 up to 22 days. Typically, shipping a car from the East Coast takes less time than from the West Coast. So if you’re shipping from an auction you can look for a vehicle that’s closer to the departure port. With EasyHaul’s you can get your guaranteed shipping quote which includes estimated sailing times. All you need is your vehicle’s VIN – and location if you aren’t shipping from auction – and your destination country.
